If you only need to wake up, Alarmy is a strong choice: a general alarm that rings until you finish a small task. For Fajr, the question changes: you need an alarm that knows when Fajr is this morning, never starts after sunrise, and leaves you at the prayer, not on your phone. That is the one job Deeny's Fajr alarm was built for.

We make Deeny. So we describe Alarmy only as its own pages and store listings described it on 20 October 2026, we say where it is the better choice, and we mark what those pages do not state.

What Alarmy Does Well

Alarmy is made by Delight Room. Its website and its App Store page list 8 wake-up missions: math, memory, shake, typing, squats, a QR code or barcode, steps, and a photo of an object or a place you choose. Its Multiple Missions feature combines 2 to 5 of them. The alarm does not stop until the mission is done.

Its Google Play listing describes a feature called Wake Up Check: if you ignore the alarm, the missions start again. Its website says the essential features are free, and that Premium adds features such as "Prevent Falling Back Asleep" and "Alarm Sound Power-Up". The App Store page offers Premium with a free trial; neither listing states the price.

It is widely used. The Google Play listing shows at least 50 million downloads, and the app is on iPhone and Android. If your mornings start at different times, for a shift, a flight or a school run, Alarmy is built for exactly that: any time, any day, with a mission hard enough to keep you up.

Alarmy is also the better choice if you want sleep tracking, or a free alarm: Deeny has no sleep tracking, and its Fajr alarm is part of Deeny Pro.

What Changes When the Alarm Is for Fajr

A clock alarm rings at the time you set. Fajr does not keep still. It follows the sun, so it moves a little every morning, and it ends at sunrise. Our guide to when Fajr starts and ends explains the two dawns and why apps can differ by a few minutes.

That changes what a good Fajr alarm has to do:

  1. Follow the prayer. An alarm set once in winter rings at the wrong time by spring. Someone has to move it, and on a tired night nobody does.
  2. Start inside the window. A fixed alarm that suited winter can go off after sunrise in summer, when Fajr's time has already gone.
  3. Leave you at the prayer. Once the alarm stops, the phone is still in your hand, and a feed is one tap away.

The reward is worth the effort. Allah (SWT) says of the dawn prayer: "Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed" (al-Isra 17:78). The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever prays the two cool prayers (Asr and Fajr) will go to Paradise" (Sahih al-Bukhari 574).

How Deeny's Fajr Alarm Works on iPhone

This is Deeny on iPhone, version 2.0.0, the one on the App Store on 20 October 2026.

  1. Set it from the prayer. Choose to wake at Fajr or up to 120 minutes before it. Deeny takes each morning's Fajr time and sets the alarm from it, so it moves as Fajr moves.
  2. It rings until you are up. By default it keeps ringing until the photo passes, even after sunrise. You can choose to have the ringing stop at sunrise instead.
  3. No snooze. To stop it, take a photo that shows you are up: your sink, your prayer mat or yourself. An AI check confirms you are up.
  4. No connection? The photo cannot be checked without the internet, so Deeny offers a harder tracing task instead. You can still stop the alarm.
  5. Then the prayer. The next screen says you are awake and opens no feed: its button opens the prayer log.

On privacy: for the alarm, the photo leaves the phone. It goes to our servers in the European Union, is checked by Google Gemini through OpenRouter, and is deleted after 30 days. Your prayer log stays on your device. The full list is in our privacy policy.

If you want the details of the feature itself, our page on the Fajr alarm app goes through each setting.

Which One Should You Use

Choose Alarmy if you need alarms at many different times, if you enjoy a variety of missions, if you want sleep tracking, or if you want a free app for the basics. It is a good alarm, and nothing here says otherwise.

Choose Deeny if the alarm is for Fajr. It follows the prayer without you resetting it, it never starts after sunrise, and it ends at the prayer instead of on a screen. You also get the day's other prayers, the Qibla and your prayer log in the same place.

Some people keep both: Alarmy for the working alarm, Deeny for Fajr. That is a reasonable answer too.

No alarm fixes a night that ends too late. If Fajr keeps slipping, start with sleep: our guide on how to wake up for Fajr begins there, and the page on what to do when you miss Fajr is for the mornings it still happens.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Alarmy good for Fajr?

Alarmy is a strong general alarm, and its missions will get most people out of bed. Its own pages and listings, as we read them on 20 October 2026, do not mention prayer times. So you set the time yourself, and you move it as Fajr moves through the year.

Does Deeny's Fajr alarm work without internet?

Yes, on iPhone. The photo check needs the internet, so with no connection Deeny offers a harder tracing task instead, and you can still stop the alarm. The prayer times themselves are kept on your device once they are fetched.

Can I snooze Deeny's Fajr alarm?

No. Deeny's Fajr alarm has no snooze. It stops when a photo that shows you are up passes the check, or when you finish the tracing task if there is no connection. You can also choose to have the ringing stop at sunrise.

Is the Fajr alarm free in Deeny?

The Fajr alarm is part of Deeny Pro. Prayer times, reminders for the five prayers, the Qibla compass and Today's Surahs are free, with no ads. Deeny Pro is sold by the week, the month or six months, and the price is shown in the app.

If Fajr is the prayer you keep losing, the Fajr alarm in Deeny Pro is the honest next step: it follows the prayer, never starts after sunrise, and leaves you at the prayer.

One app instead of three: prayer times, a lock that holds your chosen apps until you've prayed, and a Fajr alarm you can't snooze, with a tracker that shows your progress. Built by Muslims, for Muslims: no ads, your data never sold.
