Deeny puts three tools around the prayer, and each one takes a different moment of the day. The Fajr alarm works before dawn, Salah Focus works at each adhan, and the prayer tracker works after you pray. All three are part of Deeny Pro, the tracker after its first two days.

Prayer times, reminders for the five prayers, the Qibla compass and Today's Surahs are free, and there are no ads.

This page places the three tools on one real day, hour by hour, so you can see what each does and when. Every fact about the app is for iPhone, version 2.1.2, the one on the App Store in October 2026.

Three Moments Where a Prayer Slips

Allah (SWT) says: "Indeed, prayer has been decreed upon the believers a decree of specified times" (an-Nisa 4:103). Every prayer has a time, and around that time there are three moments where a prayer can slip.

The first is sleep. Fajr comes while you are in bed, and an alarm that you can silence half awake does not get you to the prayer mat.

The second is the screen. The adhan comes in, you think "in a minute", and the feed in your hand turns the minute into forty.

The third is drift. Without a record, a week of late or missed prayers feels like a week of "mostly fine", and nothing tells you which prayer keeps slipping.

Each of Deeny's three tools answers one of these moments. The Fajr alarm is for sleep, Salah Focus is for the screen, and the prayer tracker is for drift. They live in one app because they share one thing: the times of your five prayers.

One Day With All Three

Here is Wednesday 28 October 2026 in London, with times from the Aladhan service, the one Deeny takes its prayer times from, using the Muslim World League method. In this example, the Fajr alarm is set to ring 30 minutes before Fajr.

TimeThe dayWhat Deeny does
04:2430 minutes before FajrThe Fajr alarm rings, with no snooze
04:54FajrSalah Focus closes the apps you chose
06:47SunriseFajr's time is over; the alarm never starts ringing at or after this

14:14AsrSalah Focus closes the apps you chose
16:41MaghribSalah Focus closes the apps you chose

After each prayer, you log it in the tracker. Over the day, the alarm acts once, Salah Focus five times, and the tracker five times.

Your own times depend on your city and on the method you choose; Deeny offers more than 20 methods. Our guide to how prayer times are calculated explains why two methods can differ.

The Fajr Alarm, Before the Prayer

On iPhone, the Fajr alarm rings at Fajr or up to 120 minutes before it. You choose how far ahead, and Deeny sets it from each morning's Fajr time, so it moves as Fajr moves through the year. In the London example, the earliest you could set it, 120 minutes at most before Fajr, is 02:54.

It never starts ringing at or after sunrise. It has no snooze. Since version 2.1.1, you choose what stops it:

  1. A photo that shows you are up: your sink, your prayer mat or you. An AI check confirms it.
  2. Shaking the phone.
  3. Tracing shapes on the screen.

An optional "Stop at sunrise" setting is off by default. Left off, the alarm keeps ringing until you stop it, even after sunrise. Setting the alarm up takes five short steps.

If you use the photo, it goes to our servers in the European Union, is checked by Google Gemini through OpenRouter, and is deleted after 30 days. Our page on the Fajr alarm covers why a fixed alarm drifts away from Fajr.

Salah Focus, at the Adhan

Salah Focus is the lock for the second moment. At each adhan, the apps you chose close, and they stay closed until you've prayed. You pick the apps; Deeny never sees which apps you lock. Setting up app blocking takes three short steps.

The same lock has a second use outside the prayer times: a lock for study or for sleep, when you want the same apps closed for a while.

Why a lock instead of one more reminder: a reminder asks a distracted mind to stop by itself, and the lock removes the thing that distracts. Our guide to an app that locks your phone until you pray goes further into how this kind of lock works, and compares it with other app blockers.

The Prayer Tracker, After the Prayer

The tracker is for the third moment: it keeps your prayers in a journal, with streaks, so the week shows you what really happened. Your prayer journal, your streaks and your worship log stay on your device.

Deeny Pro also adds Istiqama, for extra worship beyond the five prayers.

Deeny's Home screen on iPhone: a Protected Prayer line, today's five prayers with a padlock on each one not yet due, cards for Today's Sūrahs and the Qibla, and tabs for Home, Fajr, Focus and Settings.
Home: the day's prayers in the middle, and the Fajr and Focus tabs at the bottom.

One setting reaches across the app. For sisters, a cycle mode pauses app blocking, the Fajr alarm and the prayer reminders together, and marks those days as exempt. One mode covers the lock, the alarm and the reminders, so none of them asks for a prayer you do not owe.

There are no ads, free or paid. There is no sign-up either: no name, no email, no password; Deeny signs you in anonymously. Deeny Pro is sold by the week, the month or six months. The six-month plan starts with 3 free days, and the price is shown in the app.

So the free part of Deeny gives you the times, the reminders, the Qibla and Today's Surahs. Deeny Pro is the three tools that act at the three moments: before Fajr, at each adhan, and after the prayer.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is free in Deeny?

On iPhone, prayer times with more than 20 calculation methods, reminders for the five prayers, the Qibla compass and Today's Surahs are free, with no ads. The prayer tracker is open for its first two days. Salah Focus, the Fajr alarm, Istiqama and the tracker after those two days are part of Deeny Pro.

Is the prayer tracker part of Deeny Pro?

Yes, on iPhone, after the first two days. For those two days you can use the tracker without Deeny Pro. Your prayer journal and streaks stay on your device.

Can I snooze Deeny's Fajr alarm?

No. On iPhone, Deeny's Fajr alarm has no snooze. Since version 2.1.1 you choose what stops it: a photo that shows you are up and passes an AI check, shaking the phone, or tracing shapes on the screen.

What does Deeny pause during my period?

On iPhone, since version 2.1.1, a cycle mode for sisters pauses app blocking, the Fajr alarm and the prayer reminders. It also marks those days as exempt.

Does Deeny see which apps I lock?

No. Deeny never sees which apps you lock with Salah Focus. Your prayer journal, streaks and worship log also stay on your device, and your data is never sold.

If you want to see the three tools at work on your own prayers before you decide, the six-month plan of Deeny Pro starts with 3 free days, and the tracker's first two days are open to everyone.

One app instead of three: prayer times, a lock that holds your chosen apps until you've prayed, and a Fajr alarm you can't snooze, with a tracker that shows your progress. Built by Muslims, for Muslims: no ads, your data never sold.

Ready for a gentle return?

Deeny helps you pray on time, with accurate prayer times, reminders and the Qibla for free. Deeny Pro gently locks distracting apps until you've prayed and keeps an honest tally. No ads, no sign-up, no selling your data.
